Vaporetto (Water Bus) Line 1
Information
Line 1 is the most used vaporetto line. It travels down the Grand Canal while stopping at most water bus stops along the way.
Most visitors to Venice use this line to reach the Rialto Bridge, St Mark’s Square and other attractions. As such, it’s a nice introduction to the Grand Canal and to Venice itself, but it does tend to get very busy and it’s quite slow.
This line begins at Piazzale Roma and ends in Lido di Venezia (taking about an hour). Line 1 then does the reverse from Lido to Piazzale Roma.
Below you can download the route 1 timetable in PDF format and view the interactive waterbus map.
NOTES
If you want to reach Rialto or Piazza San Marco more quickly, use Line 2, which has fewer stops along the Grand Canal.
