About
Le Vignole is close to the northern end of Lido di Venezia and Certosa.
In the 7th century two tribunes from Torcello built a small church dedicated to St. John the Baptist and St. Christine. The few other points of interest include the small church of St. Eurosia, sided by a small bell tower.
Vignole is actually made up of two islands, which are connected by a bridge. Most of the population here work in agriculture. Having said that, the eastern part of the island is a military zone, housing barracks of an Italian regiment.
Two bridges connected this sector to Sant’Andrea Island which is home to a large fortress built in the 16th century to defend Venice.
