About
The Library has one million volumes, 13,000 manuscripts, more than 2800 incunables (a book, pamphlet, or broadside printed in Europe before the year 1501). The building of the Library is a true work of art beginning with the decoration of its halls, its sculptures and its coffered ceilings. This library is rich in terms of Greek culture, the history of Venice and Venetian editions
It is one of the earliest surviving public libraries and repositories for manuscript in Italy and holds one of the greatest collections of classical texts in the world.
Interior
The Library has gilded interior rooms which are decorated with oil paintings by the masters of Venice’s Mannerist period, including Titian, Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese, and Andrea Schiavone.
