WIFI IN VENICE
It’s always easier if you have a data plan you can use in Italy. However, if you don’t or your signal is bad, this may help.
Look for VeniceConnected on your wifi connection.
Reception may vary depending upon your location. You can buy access through the sign-up page when you connect.
Prices are from €5 for 24 hours, €15 for 72 hours or €20 for 7 days
Most hotels and some restaurants have their own wifi network/s that allow access to guests and customers. Just ask!
Create a “card” – just input your first and last name and click “create card”.
Go to “Parking & Services”. Select WiFi connection and buy WiFi for the duration you need.
Phone SIMs In Venice
If you don’t want to rely just on WIFI you can either use roaming on your phone – which is allowed with your existing data and minutes on most European sim cards (always check with your provider).
For non EU phones buying a sim card for your stay is a good idea. There is free wifi in Venice and in most hotels but coverage may be limited.
To do this you will need an unlocked phone and one that works on the European network (GSM). The good news is that most modern phones can do this automatically.
Mobile operators in Italy include Vodafone, Windtre, Tim, HO and iliad.
You will need your passport to buy an Italian SIM card.

Banks & Money
Italy uses the Euro (€).
Banks are usually open from 8.30am – 1.30pm and 2.45pm – 4.00pm on Mondays to Fridays (excluding public holidays) but some will have different hours.
Foreign currency exchange is possible at post offices and dedicated currency exchange offices in hotels and travel agencies. Always check commission and exchange rates for the best deal.

Multi-Currency Cards
To save on expensive fees when using some bank and credit cards, a card like Wise or Revolut can be used.
The card allows you to hold 40 currencies and convert them in seconds with low or no fees.
This is an affiliate link, but we use Wise and it works really well.

Public Toilets (Restrooms) in Venice
Public toilets (restrooms) are few and far between in Venice.
The link below will take you to a Google map showing locations. Expect to pay a fee to use them.
Often the best way to find a toilet is to order something from a bar and ask to use theirs.
