Olivetti Museum, Carlo Scarpa, St Mark's Square, Venice
Olivetti Museum – Negozio Olivetti
Venice, Italy
For lovers of Carlo Scarpa’s work and vintage Olivetti typewriters and adding machines.
History
Negozio Olivetti is a showcase for some of Olivetti’s vintage products (typewriters and adding machines) but the small museum will, perhaps, be of more interest to architects – it was designed by Carlo Scarpa (1906-1978), an Italian architect, designer and academic, one of the most important of the twentieth century.
The Shop (negozio) was designed with great attention to detail with the use of Istrian stone to black marble, African teak and more. If you want to view Scarpa’s use of light, space and detail, this is the place.
