INTRODUCTION
Our luxury, money no issue, hotel of choice for the San Marco district of Venice was a choice between the Gritti Palace and the St Regis Hotel. Both are beautiful hotels and are able to satisfy the most discerning traveller.
In this instance, we chose the St Regis. In guest reviews the St Regis edges out the Gritti Palace by having slightly better reviews but only in terms of a tiny percentage eg Gritti staff 9.4/10, St Regis staff 9.6/10, Gritti facilities 9.4/10, St Regis 9.5/10 and so on. So there’s not much in it (Booking.com reviews Feb 2025).
Close to many major attractions and with rave reviews for much that the St Regis does in its 5 star luxury hotel, this is our choice.
Guest Reviews say: Hotel very beautiful & chic in a strategic position and with a direct view on the Grand Canal. The experience was amazing, from the Butler service to the Reception, from the Concierge to the waiters and barmans.

Palazzo Keller
Palazzo Keller is located in a 15th century building close to Teatro La Fenice and not far from St Mark;s Square. The rooms have Rubelli wallpaper, curtains made by local artisans and there are Murano glass chandeliers. The hotel has recently undergone a complete refurbishment.
Along with standard rooms, the hotel has a variety of suites, a bar and reading room.
Close by are a number of a shops and restaurants. The hotel is 3 minutes from the Sant’Angelo water-bus stop.
