Enjoy the convenience of traveling by land and by sea with a public transportation pass in the city of Venice. Venture to nearby destinations, including Lido, Murano, Burano, and Torcello Island.
The vaporetto is the main form of public transport in Venice.
Because of Venice’s waterways, canals and islands, this is the main way to travel beyond walking (since cars don’t operate in the historic centre). Gondolas are more for tourism; vaporetti do the job of commuting and getting around.
If you plan to use the vaporetto service for more than a couple of trips, buying the multi-day pass is usually cheaper per ride.
Always remember to validate your ticket when you board the vaporetto.
Make sure you know which direction your vaporetto is going. Stops are clearly marked, and there are maps at the docks. It helps to check in advance.
Routes and Coverage
There are many scheduled lines (about 19 or so lines) that serve most locations within Venice (eg Grand Canal, Rialto, San Marco) along with the outer islands including Murano, Burano, Torcello and Lido.
For more information please view our main vaporetto page which includes routes, downloadable maps of the lines, timetables and an interactive map of all vaporetto waterbus services in Venice
Not covered by this pass
Some services link the airport (e.g. Alilaguna), but these are separate from ACTV’s standard vaporetto network. Read more about Alilaguna’s airport service to Venice on our Alilaguna page.
