Express Bus, Alilaguna Boat, Shared or Private Water Taxi
1. Water Taxi
Water taxi is by far the quickest and most convenient way to travel to Venice.
Although more expensive than other options, seeing Venice for your first time as you arrive by water across the lagoon is an experience you will not forget. It’s also a lot quicker than the other options and can land you at or near your hotel (depending on the hotel and the tides).
There are two options with the water taxi: a private water taxi just for yourself/your group (up to 6 people), or a shared water taxi – which is a more pocket-friendly alternative.
2. ALILAGUNA BOAT
The Alilaguna boat is the most popular transport option, taking about an hour from the airport into central Venice.

The boats take about an hour to reach central Venice locations.
There are three Alilaguna lines from Marco Polo Airport to Venice: Blue, Orange and Red (a seasonal line). For more information view the Alilaguna page.
3. EXPRESS BUS
For those staying near Piazzale Roma or who wish for the cheapest option, the express bus delivers you from the airport to Piazzale Roma in about 20 minutes from where you can take a vaporetto to your chosen stop.
Once at Piazzale Roma, you can choose your waterbus to the stop nearest to where you are staying, or walk from the bus stop to your nearby hotel.
You can also take a land taxi from the airport to Venice which you can find outside the airport.
