Cannaregio is a vibrant area of the “real” Venice with a number of places to visit from historic ones to art, artisans and more.

Key sights in Cannaregio include the Venice Ghetto dating back to 1516 and made famous by Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice. For lovers of art and those that want to see a working industry, the Orosni Furnace/Colour Library is a must.

Ca’ d’Oro one of the best surviving palazzo in Venetian Gothic architecture (circa 1430) which houses the Franchetti art collection (plus bronzes and sculptures on display come from, as well as numerous Venetian and Flemish paintings).
